Spatial Downscaling of Agricultural Land-Use Data: An Econometric Approach Using Cross Entropy

چکیده

We propose a spatial disaggregation tool to help researchers make the best use of aggregated data in studies of land use. The proposed approach uses parcel-level agricultural data in conjunction with biophysical processes to break down agricultural regional data to the pixel level. It is a two-step procedure. First, we estimate a landuse model using a multinomial logit model. Second, we disaggregate the observed regional data using a generalized cross-entropy approach, taking the firststep predictions as priors. This procedure is applied to the French Picardie region. Results indicate a significant correlation between observed and estimated land-use shares. (JEL C11, C81, Q12, R14)

Spatial Disaggregation of Agricultural Production Data: An Econometric Approach using Minimum Cross Entropy

The objective of this paper is to propose a spatial disaggregation procedure that will be useful in assessing economic and environmental impacts of the last CAP reform of EU agriculture(e.g., the study of water pollution due to agriculture). The proposed disaggregation method uses agricultural data in conjunction with biophysical processes to break down agricultural FADN data available at the r...

Global high-resolution land-use change projections: A Bayesian multinomial logit downscaling approach incorporating model uncertainty and spatial effects

Using econometric models to estimate land-use change has a long tradition in literature. Recent contributions show the importance of including spatial information and of using a multinomial framework to take into account the inter-dependencies between the land-use classes. Few studies, however, agree on the relevant determinants of land-use change and there are no contributions so far comparing...

Spatial Optimization of Agricultural Land Use Based on Cross-Entropy Method

An integrated optimization model was developed for the spatial distribution of agricultural crops in order to efficiently utilize agricultural water and land resources simultaneously. The model is based on the spatial distribution of crop suitability, spatial distribution of population density, and agricultural land use data. Multi-source remote sensing data are combined with constraints of opt...

Land use impacts on surface water quality by statistical approaches

Surface waters are the most important economic resource for humans which provide water for agricultural, industrial and anthropogenic activities. Surface water quality plays vital role in protecting aquatic ecosystems. Unplanned urbanization, intense agricultural activities and deforestation are positively associated with carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous related water quality parameters. Multip...

Combined disaggregation of agricultural land uses, livestock numbers and crops’ production: an entropy approach

-This paper presents several combined agricultural data disaggregation models in order to recover the farms’ land uses, the livestock numbers and main crops’ productions. The proposed approach estimates incomplete information at disaggregated level through entropy, using an information prior, and generating information for a combined calculation use of data in the estimation of other variables....
